Rethans-Wunderle Architecture & Design (RWAD) is a design firm focused on urban planning, residential architecture and bespoke residential and commercial interiors.
After a decade long collaboration in an international environment, partners Dominique Réthans and Francesca Wunderle have established their independent practice in the spring of 2015 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
RWAD closely collaborates with clients, from the initial sketch until the final construction-details; a dialogue that seeks to optimise the quality of a project at every stage. While based in Amsterdam, RWAD's international experience includes the design and execution of projects in the UK, Italy and Venezuela.
A personal approach to design and style.RWAD is a small design firm focused on creating personal living environments, varying from apartment interiors to residences and yacht interiors. RWAD believes in the intelligence of design solutions as a key to forge individual answers to a design brief and sees style as a result of a intense design process rather than something that can follow a preconceived notion.Collaboration and Co-creationRWAD's approach implies a willingness to engage in an intensive collaboration with the client as well all other partners involved in the process of realising a project. This intensity and level of attention can only be achieved by concentrating on a select amount of projects, thereby ensuring an ability to exercise full control over all phases in the realisation of a project.
RWAD is led by two partners, Dominique Réthans (NL) and Francesca Wunderle (ITA), who have collaborated since the late 90’s on numerous interior design and architecture projects, both as an independent practice as well as for other design- and engineering firms. As a team they have realised projects in Italy, Venezuela and the Netherlands, and in their individual professional experience they have been involved in the realisation of projects in the US, the UK, Germany and Switzerland.
After a decade long presence in Rome, Rethans + Wunderle have recently returned to Amsterdam to establish their independent practice in the fall of 2012. While based in Amsterdam, the majority of their projects are executed in Italy, following a strong affiliation with Italian culture and the Italian territory.
